Do you feel you are you missing out on your regular ukulele playing? Keep checking this website. We are looking into holding weekly online sessions with an app called Zoom (You may want to download it in preparation). It is an online conferencing app which is used by businesses for holding their meetings and also by teachers who are turning to holding their teaching sessions online.
Well we’ve had a try and……
….we are going to trial a weekly online ‘meeting’ at 7.00pm on Wednesdays. Those who wish to ‘attend’ can send their email address to the website (email@example.com ) or forward it to Malcolm, Christina or myself directly or through the club’s Facebook page. Please do this now rather than last minute. In this time of self isolation it means that we can have a chat, say hello to each other and keep in touch. There can be an opportunity to ‘Open Mike’ for those who wish to keep their strumming hands working. Download and install the Zoom app from your play store on your device and Malcolm will send a link to all who have sent in their email addresses to be included. If you need any further information please ask.
How it will work:-
Those who wish to ‘attend’ the meetings should download and install Zoom on their device and email either Malcolm, Christina or the website (firstname.lastname@example.org) ensuring that they include the email address that they will be available at on the night. These steps should be taken now in preparation rather that leaving it until Wednesday.
Just before we start on the night you will be sent a ‘Meeting Number’ and password for you to enter into the Zoom page under ‘Join Meeting’ Once you’ve joined the meeting you can chat amongst the others like on a club night. When we start to play whoever leads will ask the others to mute their mike (see symbol at bottom left of screen) while we follow playing/singing then at the end of the song we can unmute. The reason for this is that there is a problem of latency whereby everyone’s system runs with a slight delay. These are all slightly different so it is impossible to sync exactly with each other. Many clubs and bands across the world have tried but this is the most practical way they have come up with so far.
So let’s get ready and see you all on Wednesday 7.00pm
