M Wenlock June 2024

Saturday 22nd. June started out bright and fine. All looked promising as we arrived at Much Wenlock ready to gig in the square. The forecast looked sunny with no rain and we were all in good spirits ready to begin. All was going well until 12 songs in I started feeling a little woozy! I thought I’ll just finish this song and will slope off for a sit down and rehydrate. Sadly I didn’t make it to the end of the song. I felt myself going down and falling on my ukulele (as any honourable gent would!).

Next thing I remember waking up with the band members helping to support me. They brought me water, raised my legs to help stabilise my BP (which it turned out was VERY low). I could hear people calling for an ambulance and recall saying “No, I’ll be all right in a minute” but next thing they were there and I could hear them asking if the helicopter was available! “No, I cried again, I don’t want all that” Any way I ended being taken by land ambulance to Princess Royal, Telford amid talk of Heart attack, Bundle branch block. Sounded like serious stuff! There followed much discussion of my e.c.g. and much conjecture as to what might be going on. Well, I spent the night under PRH’s care and am pleased to say that the conclusion that what was showing on my e.c.g. may have looked like this or that but could be discounted and the reasons given. I was discharged as having suffered nothing serious and am pleased to say that I am feeling fine.

I would like to thank everyone who rallied round and rushed to help and keep me comfortable while it was all going on. I also want to give a big apology for ending the show with such a dramatic finale and cutting the show short. I saw people packing away and said to the crew “Stop them. Don’t let them pack up tell them to carry on” but it was not to be so all I can say is Sorry and thank you all.

And later we received the following:-

Following Saturday’s gig we were sent the following email from Lesley Clark :-

It was a lovely lovely performance & for such a good cause.

Bridgenorth is 1 hour from Stafford. I

AFTER the election I will make contact with my contacts in Stafford to ascertain whether a Ukulele Event would go down well over here.

Stafford has just re-tiled its Market Square & they are keen to stage Events on it to bring people into town.

I will keep your email address handy & see what we can offer.

But what a fab morning we had in Much Wenlock!

Bestest wishes

Lesley.
